A negative receivable or payable over $1,000
CDE's wordingThe following Accounts Receivable (Object 9200), Due from Other Funds (Object 9310), Accounts Payable (Object 9500) and/or Due to Other Funds (Object 9610) have a negative balance in excess of $1,000 by resource, by fund:
Fatal. The Official Export will not run until it is cleared.
What it means
A negative receivable or payable over $1,000
Accounts Receivable (9200), Due from Other Funds (9310), Accounts Payable (9500) and Due to Other Funds (9610) cannot be negative by more than $1,000 in a resource. A negative receivable is a payable, and the reverse.
Why it fires
The usual causes
- An accrual reversed for more than was set up
- A receivable and a payable netted in the same object
- Last year's accrual reversed into a resource with no new accrual
How to fix it
The repair
- Reclass the negative to the other side of the balance sheet (a negative 9200 becomes a 9500 credit, a negative 9500 becomes a 9200 debit), or correct the reversal.
