BALANCE-FDxRSFatal (F)
The balance sheet doesn't balance within a resource
CDE's wordingBalance sheet accounts do not balance by fund and resource: assets and deferred outflows (objects 9100-9499) less liabilities and deferred inflows (objects 9500-9699) must equal Ending Fund Balance/Net Position (Object 979Z).
Fatal. The Official Export will not run until it is cleared.
What it means
The balance sheet doesn't balance within a resource
By fund and resource, assets and deferred outflows (9100-9499) minus liabilities and deferred inflows (9500-9699) must equal the ending fund balance (Object 979Z). A difference means the balance sheet entries and the operating activity live in different resources.
Why it fires
The usual causes
- A receivable or payable posted to one resource while the revenue or expense sits in another
- A one-sided balance sheet entry
- A beginning balance loaded in the wrong resource
How to fix it
The repair
- The check names the fund and resource. Compare that resource's balance sheet objects with its 979Z; the difference is the amount coded to the wrong resource.
- Move the balance sheet entry to the resource that carries the activity.
