Technical review check

CHECKFUNDFatal (F)

A fund code that isn't valid this year

CDE's wordingThe following codes for FUND are not valid. Your general ledger data must be corrected and the data reimported.

Fatal. The Official Export will not run until it is cleared.

What it means

A fund code that isn't valid this year

Every account string in the export starts with a two-digit fund. This check compares each fund against CDE's list of valid funds for the reporting year. A fund that isn't on the list stops the Official Export.

Why it fires

The usual causes

  • A locally numbered fund that was never mapped to its SACS fund in the export crosswalk
  • A fund CDE retired or renumbered
  • A typo in the fund segment on a handful of entries
How to fix it

The repair

  • The TRC lists the code. Search the export for it (the .dat is plain text) to see how many rows carry it.
  • Recode the entries to the SACS fund, or fix the crosswalk in your financial system's SACS export, then re-extract and reimport.
  • Every combination check involving the bad fund clears at the same time.

What the tool shows

Runs on the Other Export. Lists the code with the line numbers that carry it and, where it is one edit away from a valid code, the likely intended fund.

See every check on your own file before the system runs them. Drop a SACS Other Export (.dat) into SACS Pre-Flight: findings with line numbers, free, entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your computer.

When CDE changes the technical review checks, hear about it once. A short note the week the new tables post, nothing else.
