CHK-FUNDxRESOURCEWarning (W)

A resource that isn't allowed in that fund

CDE's wordingThe following combinations for FUND and RESOURCE are invalid. Data should be corrected or narrative must be provided explaining why the exception(s) should be considered appropriate.

Warning. CDE accepts it with an explanation entered in the TRC explanations.

What it means

A resource that isn't allowed in that fund

CDE publishes a matrix of which resources may appear in which funds. This check fires for every fund and resource pair the matrix does not allow for districts.

Why it fires

The usual causes

  • Program activity posted to the wrong fund (a general fund grant in Fund 13, or cafeteria revenue in Fund 01)
  • A resource that isn't valid this year (every combination with an unknown resource fails)
  • A capital or debt resource used in an operating fund
How to fix it

The repair

  • If the resource is right and the fund is wrong, move the activity to the fund the matrix allows.
  • If the resource is retired, fix CHECKRESOURCE first; this clears with it.
  • If you believe the pairing is valid, CDE accepts an explanation with the warning.
In SACS Pre-Flight

What the tool shows

Lists each pair with line numbers and suggests a substitute resource already used in the file that the matrix allows, when one exists.

See every check on your own file before the system runs them. Drop a SACS Other Export (.dat) into SACS Pre-Flight: findings with line numbers, free, entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your computer.

When CDE changes the technical review checks, hear about it once. A short note the week the new tables post, nothing else.
