CHK-RESOURCExOBJECTAWarning (W)
A revenue or balance sheet object that isn't allowed in that resource
CDE's wordingThe following combinations for RESOURCE and OBJECT (objects 8000 through 9999, except for 9791, 9793, and 9795) are invalid. Data should be corrected or narrative must be provided explaining why the exception(s) should be considered appropriate.
Warning. CDE accepts it with an explanation entered in the TRC explanations.
A revenue or balance sheet object that isn't allowed in that resource
For objects 8000-9999 (except beginning balance objects 9791, 9793 and 9795), CDE limits which objects a resource can carry. Federal revenue objects in a state resource, state apportionment objects in a local resource, and restricted balance objects in a resource that must end at zero all fail here. CDE also tests its own computed 9740 and 9790 rows.
The usual causes
- A revenue object that does not match the resource's source (8290 in a state resource, 8590 in a federal one)
- An unspent balance (9740) in a resource whose unspent funds are unearned revenue (9650), not fund balance
- A negative balance (9790) in a restricted resource
The repair
- Match the revenue object to the resource's funding source.
- For a resource that cannot carry an ending balance, record the unspent amount as unearned revenue (9650) and reduce the revenue by the same amount.
- For a negative balance, clear the deficit (see EFB-POSITIVE) and the 9790 row disappears.
What the tool shows
Lists each pair with line numbers. For the unearned revenue case it shows the exact 9650 entry; for the 9790 case it points to the EFB-POSITIVE fix. Rows under $10 are ignored, matching CDE's log.
