Special education activity without a special education goal

CDE's wordingThe following Special Education revenue and expenditure transactions (resources 3300-3405, and 6500-6540, objects 1000-8999) have not been coded to a Special Education 5000 goal or to Goal 7110, Nonagency-Educational. This technical review check excludes Early Intervening Services resources 3307, 3309, 3312, and 3318. Your general ledger data should be corrected and reimported.

What it means

Special education activity without a special education goal

Revenue and expenditure in resources 3300-3405 and 6500-6540 (objects 1000-8999) must carry a special education goal (5000 series) or goal 7110 (Nonagency-Educational). Resources 3307, 3309, 3312 and 3318 (early intervening services) are excluded.

Why it fires

The usual causes

  • District-wide charges allocated into 6500 with goal 0000 (utilities, copiers, insurance)
  • Special education revenue coded to goal 0000
  • A program goal like 1110 used on special education payroll
How to fix it

The repair

  • Recode the goal to the matching 5000 series goal (5001 unspecified, 5710, 5730, 5750, 5770 by placement) or 7110 where it applies.
  • Check the crosswalk that allocates district-wide costs into 6500 so next year's entries carry the goal.

What the tool shows

Lists each resource and goal pair with line numbers and shows a correcting entry using a 5000 series goal already in the file. Rows under $10 are ignored, matching CDE's log.

See every check on your own file before the system runs them. Drop a SACS Other Export (.dat) into SACS Pre-Flight: findings with line numbers, free, entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your computer.
